CAORLE aNcient roman port Caorle, situated in the nortnern Adriatic, between
Trieste and Venice, started life as an ancient roman
port. This seaside city with its cultural riches has
now become popular with tourists, in part due to the
recent establishment of the nearby holiday resorts of
Porto Santa Margherita, famous for its large dockyard
and Duna Verde with its villages surrounded by beautiful
countryside.
In the old town centre, between Venetian style narrow
streets and small squares and the wonderful colourful
frame of the residences, rises the cylindrical church
tower (11th century), the Duomo and the large square
embellished by frescos, unique architectonic treasures.

gently towards the sea and in some points encounters

in the cliff area of the historical centre. Here, in
June, artists from all over the world create sculptures
which form a beautiful museum by the sea below the ancient
church of the Madonna of the Angels, protector of fishermen.
At the fishing port other masters weave the nets and
colour the sails following ancient teachings.
